Burns Recovered provides in-patient visits for youth and adults during the acute phase of their injury (immediately following the incident) at our partner hospitals including Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis and the University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City (the two leading burn centers in our area). Visits are generally “peer support” in nature, meaning the visitor is also a burn survivor (orin some cases a co-survivor). The purpose of these visits is to help meet any immediate care or financial assistance needs, to connect the survivor with our and other helpful services, to work with the survivors family support system, and most importantly to provide a listening ear during this difficult time.
