Financial Assistance

Financial Assistance

Burns Recovered is dedicated to all aspects of a burn survivor’s treatment and recovery.  We can assist with the following expenses.

Emergency Assistance

Burns Recovered provides limited financial assistance to a survivor or their co-survivors (within the same household) who may require support for:

  • Rental/mortgage assistance or help with the cost of a hospital stay while a loved one is hospitalized for his or her burn injuries
  • Transportation to and from a medical care facility or appointments
  • Basic living expenses including utility assistance and groceries during the initial treatment period needed due to a loss of income resultant from the injury

At this time, we can only support those families currently receiving treatment or having received treatment in the past six months at one of our partner health care facilities:

  • Mercy Hospital, St. Louis
  • Mercy Hospital, Springfield
  • Children’s Mercy Kansas City
  • KU Medical Center
  • University Hospital, Columbia
  • BJC Children’s Hospital
  • SSM Cardinal Glennon

Utilities assistance and housing grants are paid directly to the service provider.

Compression Garments

Patients must be actively receiving treatment at partnering hospital or have been discharged within the past six months.  Exceptions to this requirement are made on a case-by-case basis.  Patients must have a written prescription from the authorizing physician in order to qualify. The lifetime limit of compression garment assistance is $2,000 per individual.
