Education for Schools

Burns Recovered is dedicated to preventing injury and death from fire and burns. Our safety and prevention education provides youth with information, strategies, and skills to identify and avoid high risk situations so that they can prevent burn and fire injuries. Our master's level social worker survived devastating burn injuries at the age of 18 and shares his personal experiences as well as his professional knowledge to engage students as they develop life-saving skills. This program is provided at no charge to schools and youth groups in thanks to the generosity of supporters who share our passion for keeping kids safe. Education for Seniors

(Retirement Communities, Independent Living, Senior Ministry, Churches, Senior Clubs)

Seniors and the elderly face high risk of scald burn injury. Accidental fires are also another leading cause of death and severe injury. Seniors are at particular risk because of medications (current or new), attitudes toward risks, and changes in mobility, sight (vision), and memory (understanding and comprehension).

Burns Recovered is honored to help Seniors with a "Burn Safety for Older Adults" presentation, originally created by the American Burn Association and modified for current trends and geographical statistics and content. This burn prevention presentation is offered at no-charge (donations are accepted). The presentation covers burn statistics, degrees of burn, common ways seniors are burned (with stories from local Burn Unit) and safety and prevention tips and strategies.
