“I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order.”
— John Burroughs
With your support, Midwest Children’s Burn Camp (MCBC) will return to its joyful home in Lesterville, MO this summer!
Burn-injured youth from across the country will be invited to MCBC at Camp Taum Sauk, where hope and joy abound. In this welcoming setting, campers will “go to nature to be soothed and healed,” participating in outdoor activities like fishing, canoeing, and hiking, while also having time for conversations on coping, acceptance, and growth.
To accommodate our campers and staff in this time of uncertainty, we anticipate doubling the number of sessions we offer and the number of buses used to transport them. We’ll be prepared for a variety of scenarios to protect the health of our camp family. In short, we expect it will take more resources than ever before to make MCBC a reality for child burn survivors in 2021.
As always, we believe no family recovering from burn trauma should pay to send their child to MCBC. In a very real sense, generous supporters like you make burn camp possible.
