Giving to Burns Recovered

Burn injuries are one of the leading causes of childhood death and disfigurement in America. Research indicates that burn-injured children are much more likely than their peers to experience feelings of low self-worth, difficulty with relationships, issues coping with reactions to their appearance and decreased participation in social and physical activities.

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, MCBC will “Zoom into the Future” this summer, embracing a digital format. A special emphasis will be placed on art therapy and creative ways to cope with feelings of abandonment and isolation, which are common among children that have spent weeks and months in sterile recovery settings.

Our volunteer camp staff comprised of first responders, educators, burn survivors, healthcare professionals and many others are working hard to translate the physical camp experience into a program that children can participate in from the safety of their homes. We will highlight that, while our campers may be scattered this year, they are not alone. MCBC is more than a physical place; it’s a family that loves and supports one another.

Please consider making a donation that will make a difference in the lives of the children and families served by Burns Recovered in these challenging days.
